Behzod Abduraimov, Uzbekistan's sensational classical music artist is bringing his signature sounds to the Merrill Auditorium!
Behzod Abduraimov was born in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) in 1990 and is a pianist. He began his musical journey at Tashkent's Uspensky Music School for Gifted Children and in 2007 he enrolled in the International Center for Music (ICM) at Missouri's Park University. At ICM, he studied under Stanislav Ioudenitcha; the Uzbekistani born American pianist, known for winning the Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Gold Medal at the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. Behzod released his debut recital CD in 2014 and it won both the Choc de Classica (an award given by French classical music magazine Classica) and the Diapason Découverte (an award given by French music magazine Diapason). He's received many other accolades including the grand prize at 2009's London International Piano Competition (with a performance of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 3) and he took first place at the 2010 Kissinger Sommer festival's international piano competition. He's worked with many renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Manfred Honeck, Vasily Petrenko, James Gaffigan, Jakub Hrusa, Thomas Dausgaard, and Vladimir Jurowski. He's also performed with many leading orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, NHK Symphony, Münchner Philharmoniker, and Leipzig Gewandhaus.
